Summer vacation is here! Instead of going back to the usual routine of carpool duty to practices, repetitive school lunches, late-night homework and traveling to games and practices every day, here’s your reminder to enjoy the break. Summer vacation looks differently for every family, but at the core it’s a time to slow down a bit and make memories that aren’t as centered around school, organized sports and extracurriculars. Instead of using this post to tell you to use summer to refresh, relax and enjoy, TeamSnap has put together some ways to refresh over the summer to make sure you are feeling your best come fall.
In any way, shape, or form, try and mix up your routine and get away! This could mean taking a quick weekend trip somewhere new or taking a day trip to a part of your town that you haven’t explored. During the regular school year, a routine is very common for families, but this summer don’t be afraid to break it up a bit and get out!
Disconnect from text messages, social media, emails and all of it! Spend a day away from technology and connect with the people around you. You will feel great and realize how special being fully in the moment is. Don’t worry, any email, text, or DM can wait.
Explore new books, movies, art, and music. One way to refresh from the usual hustle and bustle of every day life is to explore a new territory by way of reading, watching, and listening. We often read a lot on our phones these days, so allow yourself time to get lost in a physical book. Instead of watching Netflix, go to the movies!
Self-care is not selfish, it’s vital! In order to feel your best come the fall, it’s important to practice self-care. This truly looks different to every person, so try and embrace what feels great to you. If you don’t know, ask yourself what you love to do that feels good! If it’s resting and daydreaming, lay down and enjoy!
Out with the old and in with the new. If there are any things, objects or things that are no longer serving you – get rid of them! One great way to refresh is to do a deep clean. Donate old clothes, re-design a room in your home, and organize the pantry.
Some other ways to refresh this summer is to look ahead and make a dream board. A dream board doesn’t have to be a piece of art, it’s truly for you. A dream board is a way to lay out all of the things that inspire you; from newspaper clippings, stickers, photos, you name it. Use this board to get in touch with where you want this next year to take you and embrace it.
How are you making sure you are refreshed this summer?
