Week of November 30 Updates
I am proud to share this heat map as an on-going, data-informed resource that tracks the return to youth sports. This map provides visibility into state-by-state and sport-specific trends across the United States and Canada, and is accompanied by tools and resources to help support a safe return to sports. I invite you to explore, follow and share!
Week of November 30 Updates:
- The U.S. Return to Sport Index score continues to decrease, falling to 69.1% this week. The last time the U.S. Return to Sport Index dipped below 70.0% was June 16, 2020.
- The Canadian Return to Sport Index score has fallen to 97.8% and is expected to decrease further with additional sport closures across the country. Specifically, the Ice Hockey Return to Sport Index score fell over twenty percent since our November 16 weekly updates.
- Basketball holds the lowest Return to Sport Index score for both the U.S. (41.7%) and Canada (30.6%). This is heavily attributed to the higher risks associated with indoor play, as well as facility limitations tied to school venues.
- 87.0% of all November survey respondents reported that coaches and volunteers are consistently wearing masks at games and practices. 13.0% indicated that coaches and volunteers are “sometimes” wearing masks.
For those navigating the return to play, I invite you to learn more about our TeamSnap Health Check feature, which recently surpassed 7 Million health screenings since first launched in August. We applaud our TeamSnap parents, players, coaches and administrators for their role in the safe return to play and remain committed to the success of all youth sports.
Play on—safely!
