TeamSnap Announces Robust Growth in 2011
TeamSnap, a leading web service for managing sports teams and leagues, announced today that it had expanded at rapid speed in 2011, experiencing strong growth across a range of key metrics. TeamSnap greatly increased the number of end consumers using the TeamSnap service, with total web and mobile visits growing during the year by 116%. According to data from Compete.com, TeamSnap grew 7.1 times faster than competing team sport services from late 2010 to late 2011. “Consumers love our easy-to-use interface; our growth figures compared to the competition clearly demonstrate that,” said Dave DuPont, CEO of TeamSnap.
TeamSnap increased the number of active teams using its online service in 2011 by 101%. Conventional American sports like soccer, basketball, baseball and softball form the bulk of the new teams but the company's growth was across a broad set of sports and geographies. Outrigger canoeing, for instance, experienced the fastest growth of any sport. The number of outrigger teams using TeamSnap increased 291% compared to 2010 and new teams, like the Lamma Outrigger Canoe Club of Hong Kong, came from around the globe. Ringette, a popular ice sport in Canada, increased by 193%. Similarly, ice hockey grew at a solid 84%. By the end of 2011, TeamSnap counted 51,000 total teams in 135 countries as customers.
In October of 2011 TeamSnap raised $910,000 in new funding to further accelerate growth in 2012. “We expect even stronger growth in 2012 as we make further investments in key areas like mobile technologies,” commented DuPont.
