Sports Team Mobile Technology Use Takes Off

Company/Press Releases/Sports Team Mobile Technology Use Takes Off

TeamSnap, a leading web service for managing sports teams and leagues, today announced that mobile device users now generate 36% of its total daily visits, up from virtually nothing two years ago.  Mobile users use the TeamSnap iPhone app or access the website directly on their smart phone to perform a variety of useful tasks: accessing contact information for coaches, players and parents; pulling up maps and directions to games; and sending out emails and text messages to inform the team about last minute schedule and location changes.

“We at TeamSnap are deeply embedded in the technology world, and well aware of the growing use of mobile devices to access and share information. Even we are blown away, however, by the growth in mobile device traffic to TeamSnap, especially since we only have the iPhone app today.  It just shows how valuable mobile functionality is for sports team customers.” said Dave DuPont, CEO of TeamSnap.  “Today more than one third of our user visits are from a mobile device, and that figure is climbing rapidly.”

DuPont expects that mobile visits will reach 50% of TeamSnap's total during the course of this year, and the company has planned accordingly. The company is set to launch an Android app in the next couple of weeks, and has Blackberry and Windows 7 apps in the works.  The company plans to keep improving the iPhone app and to release an iPad optimized app as well.

“TeamSnap is about making life easier for everyone involved with sports,” added DuPont.  “Sports aren't played next to the home PC; they happen on the field, in the gym, on the rink or in the water. If that's where our team members and parents are, that is where we need to be. We see an exciting year ahead for TeamSnap mobile development."
