Calling for the Ball
The soccer skill of calling for the ball, as Chad Chastain explains, is important because a soccer teammate being defended may not have time to look up and see that you are open.
It is only important to call for the ball if you're in a position to benefit your team, whether the person with the ball is under pressure or you are in a position to improve the team's attacking or defensive possession.
