Week of July 20 Updates

In partnership with Under Armour, I am proud to share this heat map as a real-time and data-informed resource that tracks the return to youth sports. This map provides visibility into state-by-state and sport-specific trends across the United States and Canada, and is accompanied by tools and resources to help support a safe return to sports. Week of July 20, 2020 findings include:

• Canadian data continues to show youth and recreational sports activities are returning much quicker than expected across most Canadian provinces.

• U.S. Football has fallen from a Return to Sport Index score of 74.0% in late June to 54.5%. This now accounts for the lowest Return to Sport Index score.
• California’s comprehensive Return to Sport Index score has decreased by nearly 20% in the last two weeks to 60.7%.
• Our ongoing survey reports only 45.0% of coaches and volunteer staff are consistently wearing face masks during practices and games.

Given the continued increase in COVID-19 cases, we will monitor these trends closely in the coming weeks. I encourage you to review and share the many resources within this page to support a safe return for all.
