Week of June 22 Updates

In partnership with Under Armour, I am proud to share this heat map as a real-time and data-informed resource that tracks the return to youth sports. This map provides visibility into state-by-state and sport-specific trends across the U.S., and is accompanied by return-to-play resources and sentiments from thought leaders across the country. We are already seeing activity rising nationwide, with some states well above the same date last year.

Early findings include:

• Baseball is the top-ranked team sport with a 96% Return to Sport Index.

• Indoor sports show the lowest Return to Sport Index, with Basketball at 42% and Hockey at 52%.
• Overall, Midwest, Central, and Mountain states have a higher Return to Sport Index than coastal states.
• 20 states show a 100% Return to Sport Index.

As challenging as the last few months have been, this crisis has accentuated the role that sports play in all our lives. We are emerging with a greater appreciation of sports and look forward to monitoring and celebrating the safe return to play.
