Weight-Shift Drill
Purpose: To develop proper stride technique for softball hitting while maintaining correct weight shift.
Procedure: Assume your normal stance with a bat. If a mirror is available, use it to check your technique. Lock your bat and stride forward, keeping your weight back and striding with your front foot. Lock your hands backward as your foot goes forward six to eight inches. Stride on the inside of your front foot, picking the heel up slightly off the ground.
